The Gentle Leader Harness is designed to gently discourage your dog from pulling while walking on a lead. It's so simple - easy to fit, and easy to use. There is very little acclimation time or special technique required.
Unlike traditional collars, The Gentle Leader Harness never causes coughing, gagging or choking because the chest strap rests low across the breastbone, not on the delicate tracheal area.
Traditional harnesses actually encourage dogs to pull harder because of the "opposition reflex". That's the reflex that causes sled dogs to pull against pressure and do what they do. The Gentle Leader Harness' unique front-chest lead attachment stops pulling by steering your dog to the side and redirecting his attention towards you. Its martingale loop provides extra leverage for easy, relaxed control and prevents harness twisting and gaping.

*Girth should be measured snugly around your dog's rib cage, just behind the front legs.
For best fit measure the girth of the dog. This is the area behind the front legs and around the body. The neck and/or weight measurements will typically fall into place once girth is determined. If the measurement is close to the end of the size range, go up to the larger size.

Posted byHana Craigon25th Nov 2023I highly recommend this harness. My cocker spaniel was continuously pulling and choking herself with a regular lead. As soon as I out this harness on her she stopped. She seems a lot happier. I bought a size medium. To complete the set, I highly recommend getting a belt to attach your lead to so you can be hands free. I just bought a second hand belt from an op shop. I can now go walking with my dog and hold a bag to pick up rubbish on the way. Easy, fun and great exercise! Really recommend this harness!

Posted byMalcolm McAllisteron25th Sep 2023I was impressed when I bought this harness. It nicely pulled our hyperactive pup close and made walking a pleasure rather than a struggle. However, after three weeks the nylon webbing began to fray where it rubbed against the metal loops. Clearly this is either a design or manufacturing fault.

Posted byJamie Chiangon22nd Aug 2022Our 1.5 year old Border Collie has always been an absolute nightmare to walk as she constantly pulls on her collar leash, to the point where we had to cut walks short due to how sore our hands were after a few minutes. We've tried different leashes and techniques to no avail until we came along the Gentle Leader harness. To say the product is a life changer is no exaggeration. From the moment we put the harness on our dog, it felt like we had an entirely different dog when going out for walks. No more insane leash pulling, no more sore hands, no more out-of-breath doggo. Walks are incredibly enjoyable now and we can go for twice as long walks. Going for walks is no longer something we dread but an incredibly relaxing and peaceful experience now. I was skeptical at first but absolutely cannot recommend this product enough with our dog's attitude transformation on walks!

However our 12 month large breed has never settled with a collar and lead making walk time stressful for both of us. The Gentle Leader is a game changer. Immediately our dog was relaxed and no more pulling. No more lunging when he sees children or other dogs. He is no longer anxious and it is a pleasure to walk.
