Gold Paws is our free membership for senior pets. When your pet reaches their senior years, a digital Gold Paws membership appears in your account, unlocking exclusive offers on the senior food and care they need, plus tailored advice through our Senior Scoop newsletter.

Nothing. A Gold Paws membership is completely free.

A Gold Paws membership only appears once your pet is classed as a senior, and that is worked out from their age and size. A few things to check:

• Are they a senior yet? Senior age depends on size (see below). If your pet is not quite there, their membership will appear automatically when they reach it.
• Is their profile complete? We need their date of birth and their size or breed to work out their life stage. If either is missing, add it and we will do the rest.
• Give it a little time. Profiles update daily, so allow up to 24 hours after you add or update the details.
• Check you are signed in on the latest version of the Petdirect app or website.

It depends on the pet:

• Cats: 7 years and over

• Small dogs: 8 years and over

• Medium dogs: 7 years and over

• Large dogs: 6 years and over

• Giant breeds: 5 years and over

Larger dogs age faster, so they reach their senior years sooner.

Double-check their date of birth and size are entered correctly on their profile. If the membership still has not appeared, get in touch with our team and we will sort it out.

Yes. Every pet on your account that reaches their senior years gets their own Gold Paws membership.

There is nothing to join. Add your pet's profile now and their Gold Paws membership will appear automatically the moment they reach their senior years. 

Yes, Gold Paws is part of your Petdirect account, so your membership and offers go with you online, in the app, and in store.

Gold Paws is a free membership for senior pets, available to Petdirect account holders in New Zealand. There is no cost to join.

Membership is unlocked automatically when a pet on your Petdirect profile reaches its senior life stage. Senior life stage is determined by pet type, age and size: dogs from 5 years (giant breeds), 6 years (large), 7 years (medium) and 8 years (small and toy), and cats from 7 years. You will need an active pet profile with a date of birth and breed or weight so we can determine life stage. Once a pet qualifies, the digital Gold Paws card appears in your account.

Membership unlocks exclusive offers on selected senior pet products, the Senior Scoop newsletter, and tailored senior pet content and advice. Offers are selected by Petdirect, may change over time, are available while stocks last, and are not valid in conjunction with any other offer. Exclusions apply.
