Black Hawk Original Mature Lamb & Rice is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for maintenance.
Feeding amounts may vary by breed, activity level, temperament and climate. Mature dogs over 7 years ted to slow down a little while benefiting from protein which supports their body condition. With even older dogs over 12yrs, body maintenance becomes a priority so feeding amounts should be adapted once more.
When changing foods, it is important to do so gradually so your pet gets used to new flavours and textures with minimal risk of digestive upset. We suggest a slow transition over one week, for example: Days 1-2 add 25% new food mixed into existing diet, Days 3-4: 50%, Days 5-6: 75%, Day 7: 100%. Slow down the mixing rate should your pet exhibit any gastrointestinal distress or avoidance to ensure the transition to their new diet is smooth.

I am fed my favourite Black Hawk Mature lamb (and chicken) dry dogfood each day, and I love it.
I have been feeding my 2 Ridgebacks and my small terrier with Black Hawk for 7 years and I just love it! All my dogs are super healthy with a shiny coat all year around. For me it's important to find a brand I trust and stick to it so I have one less thing to worry about cause my dogs are my best mates and only deserve the best :-)

This dog food is great: our boy has a beautiful coat, has no movement issues and we are finding it easy to manage senior dog issues such as weight. He is also a bit fussy - no such issues with BlackHawk. It’s is a very economical feed too, as the high quality means no fillers…less food.
We had the opportunity to sample this and our large breed dog was excited by something new. While she might need to continue with this for a bit longer to fully experience the claimed benefits, I’m confident that transitioning from her previous Black Hawk diet will continue to provide the same exceptional quality and nutrition :)
I won a free sample of the Black Hawk Mature Dog - Lamb and Rice for my (almost) 13 year old German Shorthaired Pointer, Sage. First impressions of the product were great and they remained great. The bag was sent in a lovely PR package that I wasn't expecting. The actual product itself smelt lovely and Sage absolutely loved it. Whilst the bag didn't last a long time, I noticed an improvement in the shininess of her coat and that she retained weight better than on her usual kibble. Our dogs have always done well on Black Hawk products but the new Mature line is great for the oldies and their specific needs. Definitely recommend!
