What is 2-hour delivery?
Petdirect's 2-hour delivery is exactly what it sounds like. Order from petdirect.co.nz and get your pet's favourite food, treats, or supplies delivered straight to your door in as little as two hours. No rushing to the shops, no compromising on your usual brands, just the full Petdirect range, delivered at speed.
We've partnered with DoorDash to make this happen, combining our stores and product range with their delivery network so you get the best of both worlds.
How does it work?
It's four simple steps between your pet's next favourite thing and your front door:
1. Shop petdirect.co.nz Browse our full range as usual. Eligible items will show the 2-hour delivery option at checkout, no hunting around for it.
2. Choose 2-hour delivery Select DoorDash delivery at checkout. Your delivery fee is calculated based on distance and shown upfront before you confirm, no surprises.
3. We pack your order Your nearest Petdirect store picks and packs your order, then hands it straight to a DoorDash Dasher. Quick, careful, and ready to go.
4. Track it live and receive A live tracking link lands in your inbox and via SMS. Watch your Dasher make their way to you in real time, so you know exactly when to meet them at the door (or let them leave it safely if you're not home).
Real-time tracking, from store to door
We get that you want to know exactly when your pet's food is five minutes away. Every 2-hour delivery includes live tracking, built in:
- Email tracking link: sent as soon as your order is with the Dasher
- SMS updates: live notifications straight to your phone (mobile number required)
- Live map tracking: watch your Dasher's location in real time
And because we know life doesn't always mean someone's home, Authority to Leave is included. Your Dasher will leave your order safely without needing a signature. Just add any gate codes at checkout.
Where is it available?
2-hour pet supplies delivery is currently only available in Auckland and Christchurch, across selected postcodes in each city. If you're outside these areas, this option won't appear at checkout.
For Auckland customers, orders are fulfilled from Mt Roskill, Takapuna, or Mt Wellington. In Christchurch, orders are dispatched from Tower Junction. You'll always be served from the store closest to you, keeping delivery times as fast as possible.
Not sure if you're in the delivery zone? No worries. Your postcode is automatically checked at checkout. If 2-hour delivery is available for your address, the option will appear. Simple as that.
Good to know before you order
A few things worth keeping in mind:
- Order cut-off: Place your order at least 1 hour before your nearest store closes. After that, the DoorDash option won't appear at checkout.
- Unavailable on public holidays or during any temporary store closures.
- Frozen and chilled products are not eligible for 2-hour delivery.
- There are weight and size limits: individual items must be under 16 kg and 120 cm on the longest side, with a maximum total order weight of 55 kg. Some larger items like extra-large dog crates or cat trees may also be excluded.
- Eligibility is checked automatically at checkout. If your cart qualifies, the DoorDash option will appear.
What about the delivery fee?
The 2-hour delivery fee is dynamically calculated based on the distance between your nearest eligible Petdirect store and your delivery address. You'll see the exact amount before you confirm your order, so there are no surprises at the end.
