Zealandia Kitten & Mama Chicken Formula is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Cat Food Nutrient Profiles for Growth & Reproduction.

Nutrients indicated as per July 2025 Laboratory Testing provided by Zealandia. Due to Raw Material Seasonality, these products can have minor different nutritional qualities depending on the season.  Zealandia reviews nutritional information after each laboratory test. Product labelling is simplified, “As Fed” typical analysis.

Feeding Guidelines:

Fresh water should always be accessible. 

The amount you feed your pet depends on its breed, age, size, level of activity and whether you are feeding as a complete diet or mixed feeding.  Your pet's unique needs may vary. Adjust accordingly to maintain optimal weight and health, and speak with your vet at each check-up or if you have any concerns.  

Introducing Zealandia Nutrition to your pet: We recommend that you transition your pet from their old diet to their new diet over a 7 day period, by feeding increasing percentages of Zealandia Pet Nutrition until reaching 100% after 7 days.

The Discovery of Zealandia

In 2017,  a groundbreaking announcement by a team of geologists shook the scientific world, as Zealandia was officially recognized as the 8th continent.  Known in the Māori language as Te Riu-a-Māui, this extraordinary region represents one of the most pristine and untouched environments on the planet. With its deep oceanic trenches, fertile soils, and vibrant ecosystems, Zealandia is a symbol of the harmony that can exist between nature and life.  Approximately 23 million years ago, this massive landmass is believed to have been completely submerged beneath the Pacific Ocean, forming a submerged continental plateau that supports rich marine ecosystems.  Today, 94% of its landmass lies beneath the ocean, with only a few portions—such as New Zealand, New Caledonia, and some smaller islands—visible above sea level. 

While the official recognition of Zealandia came in 2017, we were inspired by its legacy much earlier. In 2012, we launched Zealandia Pet Food, embedding the values of purity, innovation, and sustainability into everything we do.  By naming our company after this remarkable continent, we pay homage to its purity and the unbreakable connection between nature and nourishment. Developing functional products that benefit the health of our pets
We utilise raw materials from the human food chain, to provide exceptional quality ingredients in the food offered to our cats & dogs. This includes clean protein, lamb organs filled with abundant nutrients, green-lipped mussels for hip & joint health, and Salmon & Hoki Fish Oil for a glossy Skin & Coat.  There is a reason why every single ingredient is in our products. If it's not needed, then it's excluded. We believe that feeding as close to 100% natural is the best way to look after your pet.

Farm animal compassion
The quality of the lives of farm animals and wildlife is extremely important to us. New Zealand recognises animals as sentient, and are to be treated humanely. We care for farm animals as well as pets. We ensure that farm animals have a happy, healthy existence before helping dogs & cats survive with better nutrition. The New Zealand Animal Welfare Act 1999, states that every farm animal is required to be treated humanely and with care. We also raise awareness of Responsible Farming Practices.

We support birds & forests
The Brushtail Possum (Trichosurus vulpecula) is a small marsupial, native to Australia, introduced into New Zealand in the mid-19th century in an attempt to develop a fur industry. They occupy 90% of the mainland and at least 13 offshore islands. Much of this is in areas administered by the Department of Conservation. Of the estimated total possum population, about one-third is in the South Island, and two-thirds are in the North Island. The average density in the north is equivalent to four possums per hectare, 2.7 times that in the South Island. They feast on the rich New Zealand flora and fauna, making them a very nutritious protein source. They eat plant material such as ferns, leaves, flowers, and fruit). Tree species such as northern rata, mistletoe and titoki have been reduced greatly by the possum’s selective feeding. They also supplement their diet with bird eggs, baby birds and some insects. By feeding Brushtail to pets, we help to protect native birds and trees, and their habitats by maintaining a reduced population of this non-native marsupial.

Sustainable seafood
We ensure that all our proteins come from farms that are certified with the NZ government, and we only include fish & shellfish which is certified as sustainable by the International Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). Our King Salmon and Green Mussels are farmed in the Marlborough Sounds, a scenic region of the South Island. Hoki is a deep-sea fish, that is unique to the cooler oceans in the South Pacific. We also use sustainable packaging such as recyclable cans for our wet food.
