We purchased this mat as our cat was not eating all the food in her dish. We put the wet food in the deeper squares as directed, but she did not like that. She preferred her wet food in the shallower dry food area. So by trail and error we made it work. I would say it works better for wet food. The cat biscuits scattered everywhere as the mat couldn't hold them in. We have a dry food dispenser anyway. Overall we are happy because the cat can eat all her wet food and none is wasted.

I'd been strugging to get my wild born kitten to not bolt his food. Putting a mix of wet and dry on this turned out to be the perfect solution, although HE didn't think so for the first couple of meals. His eating was very slow until he got used to it. The meals that he would previously bolt in a couple of minutes now take him at least 15 minutes or so, enough time for his brain to realise there was food in his stomach, and for the first time ever, he often will leave some and go back to it later. It's also calmed him down too which was an added plus. I just wish I'd discovered the LickiMat earlier.

For one of our cats this has been a game changer. No more finishing too quick and stealing our other kitties food, and no more vomiting post meal. By far, this is the best slow feeder we have purchased thus far, and we have wasted a lot of money on others! We feed both dry and wet food from the LickiMat, and it hasn’t retained any bad smells (though we do wash it pretty quickly after feeding). We highly rate this product.
