NeoMercazole, containing the active ingredient carbimazole, is a medication prescribed to treat hyperthyroidism in cats. Hyperthyroidism is a condition where the thyroid produces too much thyroxine. NeoMercazole works by inhibiting the thyroid glands' use of iodine, which is needed to produce thyroxine, thereby reducing the overproduction of hormones from the thyroid.
