Vetmedin, containing the active ingredient Pimobendan, is a prescription medication for treating dogs with heart disease. Vetmedin works in two ways: relaxing and widening the blood vessels, reducing blood pressure, and easing the workload on the heart. It also works on the heart muscles, enabling them to contract and pump more effectively thereby improving blood flow around the body.
