Felimazole, containing the active ingredient Methimazole, is a medication prescribed to treat hyperthyroidism in cats. Hyperthyroidism is when the thyroid gland produces too much of the hormone thyroxine. Felimazole works by inhibiting the thyroid glands' use of iodine, which is needed to produce thyroxine, thereby reducing the overproduction of hormones from the thyroid.
