Introducing our Partnership with Save the Kiwi! Help Us Protect A Kiwi Icon

Kia Ora, fellow Kiwis!
Here at Petdirect, we're all about caring for our pets. But our love for animals extends far beyond the ones we share our homes with. That's why we're incredibly proud to announce that Petdirect is the latest sponsor of Save the Kiwi!
For those unfamiliar, Save the Kiwi is a dedicated organisation working tirelessly to protect our national icon, the kiwi. Sadly, kiwi populations are threatened by predators like stoats and ferrets, habitat loss, and roaming dogs.
That's where Save the Kiwi steps in. Their incredible team works on numerous initiatives, from predator control programs and habitat restoration to raising public awareness.
A Call to Action: Protecting a Kiwi Legacy
The situation for kiwi is critical. Aotearoa used to be home to millions of kiwi. Today, that number has plummeted to approximately 68,000, and it continues to decline by 2% every year. Of the kiwi that hatch in areas where there is no predator control, a staggering 95% are killed by predators before they reach adulthood. Around 20 kiwi die every week. If we don't act, kiwi could disappear from our forests entirely within a few generations.
Why Does Petdirect Care About Kiwi?
As a company built by Kiwis, for Kiwis and their pets, we share a deep connection to our native wildlife. We believe that all animals, big and small, feathered and furry, deserve a chance to thrive. Protecting the kiwi isn't just about preserving a beloved bird; it's about safeguarding the delicate balance of our ecosystem.
